In a cozy minimalist home, there is not an excess of knick knacks or clutter.

How to make your home cozy and minimalist? Here are 10 tips.
1. Remove clutter to make your home cozy and minimalist
I find that spaces filled with too many things and clutter everywhere arenโt cozy. Do you agree?
They make me feel stressed and it looks chaotic.ย
To make your home cozy, you need to declutter items that you donโt like or use anymore.
Your new minimal space will become a cozy haven where you can relax and create beautiful memories with your family!ย
2. Only keep what makes you happy
Now that you have decluttered your homeย and got rid of unwanted things, you need to only surround yourself withย things that bring you happiness.
The best way to do that is to display your sentimental items on a shelf or other visible surface.
If you have a fun hobby, make sure to have those supplies readily available as well so you can get to them easily.
Just try to keep themย as minimal and organized as possible.
3. Use different textures around your home
One of the most impactful ways to make your home cozy is to use different textures around your house.
Add differentย throw pillowsย on your couch.
Throw a cozy blanket on your bed.
Haveย soft towels andย bathrobesย readily available in your bathroom.
You can also add texture by using rugsย in your living areas.
I also recently noticed how much of a difference curtains make in a space! They really do add texture and warmth in a room that you didnโt even know you needed.
4. Use natural light during the day and lamps at night
Avoid turning on lamp light during the day unless you absolutely need to.
Not only will this save you energyย and money, but letting natural light in your home will make it cozier and warm.ย
Who doesnโt love the look of sunlight streaming in a room?!
And then at night, instead of using harsh overhead lights, turn on several different lamps.
Remember to use lightbulbs that have a warm glow instead of the ones with a cold white look to them.
You can even make things even cozier by lighting a fire or burning candles!
5. Be intentional when choosing home decor
To make your home cozy and minimalist you need to be intentional about how many pieces of decor you put out.
Decor pieces can add to the coziness of a space, but you donโt want to overdo it with them.
Consider only having a maximum of five items displayed on each shelf.
Do not put wall art on every empty wall in a room.ย
Having fewer decorations means that you are more likely to enjoy each one compared to if you had too many.
I also love using mirrors to elevate a room and bounce the natural light.
6. Get houseplants
I find houseplants make the room feel alive andย create a sense of serenity, which is ideal to make a room cozy.
If plants arenโt your thing, maybe youโd prefer to add some fresh flowers in a vase on your kitchen table instead.
They will become a beautiful natural centerpiece that everyone will be able to enjoy!
7. Choose furniture and decor items made of natural materials
One of the best ways to make your home cozy is to include natural materials in your home decor.
They will contribute to making your home feel warm and inviting.
Try to limit the number of items made of plastic because those have the least cozy feel.ย
Examples of natural materials are wood, wicker and clay.
You can use them as various home decor pieces like furniture,ย baskets or vases.ย
8. Use pops of color and textures here and there
Cozy doesnโt just mean beige and neutral. Donโt be afraid to add color and patterns!ย
I particularly lean towards earthy colors like green around my home.
They are easy on the eyes and can create the cozy vibe youโre looking for.
To stay minimal, donโt use too many colors. Try to stick to the 60-30-10 rule.
According to this rule, the main color you choose to have in your room should represent 60% of it. The secondary color, 30%, and the accent one, 10%.ย
This design rule will help give your space a balanced look!
9. Reduce visual clutter in your home
It goes without saying that removing the clutterย in your home is a must to make your home cozy and minimalist.
What needs to be removed is anything that bothers our eyes when looking at our space.ย
For instance, some people like decor with words and phrases on them.
Itโs totally fine to have them because they can also add coziness to your home.
But try toย avoid having too many of them so your eyes arenโt constantly needing to read something when youโre home.
This also relates to logos and labels on products. I even peel labels off of candles so they have a cleaner look.
Having too many things out is visually distracting and doesnโt create a cozy minimalist home that youโre wanting.
10. Make your home smell cozy
Not only do you want your home to look cozy, but you also want it to smell cozy too!
This can be made possible with candles, air fresheners, or simmer pots if you want to try a more natural way of giving your home a scent.
